Sacha van Ravenswade

Sacha van Ravenswade is an Amsterdam chazzan and lyric tenor. I built a five page site carrying both careers and routing every booking through one form.

The Brief

Sacha van Ravenswade runs two singing careers at once. He is a lyric tenor, and he is a chazzan, the cantor who leads the liturgy in synagogue. He began singing in the shul in Amstelveen as a child and took the chazzan's role at fifteen. He is now the permanent cantor at the Jacob Obrecht Synagogue in Amsterdam, coaches with Marcel Reijans and Margreet Honig, and performs in the Netherlands and abroad with the accompanist Maarten Hillenius.

That double identity is the positioning problem in full. A concert promoter booking an opera programme and a synagogue board booking a Shabbat service want different things and rarely read the same page. The site has to hold both without blunting either. Its own title settles the argument in three words: Chazzan, Tenor, Ravenswade.

What I Built

Five pages, no more, for a singer with two careers to hold at once.

A concert promoter and a synagogue board each had to find what they came for without either feeling like the afterthought. So the story is told once, properly, rather than split into two versions of the same man, and the calendar carries engagements from both halves of the career side by side. That does the positioning work on its own: the double identity reads as deliberate rather than divided.

The calendar earns its keep for a second reason. For a working performer the live question is always where he will be next, and a list that goes stale answers it badly.

Everything routes to one form. The field worth arguing over is the one asking why you are writing, so a booking and a general enquiry arrive in the same inbox with their intent already attached.

Where It Stands

Live at ravenswade.com. Small by intent. A working singer needs a site that says who he is, where he will be, and how to book him. Anything past that is one more thing to keep current, and a stale page does more damage than a missing one.
